OUR STORY:
Back in 1989 there was a 12 year old boy growing up in Orange County, CA. who was having a tough time figuring out some things both in life and in school.  It was bad enough having a terrible stuttering problem when speaking, and now his  Parents were recently divorced and attending a new school,  he felt lost and completely alone. It was tough to be positive.
He gave his teachers a difficult time and acted out in an attempt to gain friends. He even felt that most of his teachers and adults had given up on him.  With the exception of one teacher who always seemed to know how to motivate him, but more importantly, a  P.E. teacher who had high standards for himself AND for his students. His name was Mr. Smith and he was a towering inferno of muscle and positive energy!
He challenged the young man weekly, and the boy hated it.  Every week it would be "come on, I know that you are stronger than this" and "you simply have not trained your mind son." The young man loved P.E yet despised hearing this teacher preach how great everything was and how wonderful life is, as he runs laps.
By the end of the year and happy to be seeing Mr. Smith for the last time, the boy reluctantly asked him to sign his yearbook.  Mr. Smith signed the book and the young man grabbed it and ran off not reading a single word.  Roughly 20 years would pass before the boy would actually read what Mr. Smith took the time to write and what he saw would change his mindset from that point going forward, "Matt, It has been interesting. Never be anything but your best."  What a wonderful set of words it was, so simple in theory,  yet very difficult to attain on a daily basis.

We may or may not be able to be our very best every single day, but I believe that we can try and attain that goal by having a positive mindset and pushing forward at a given task.  Giving your best and staying positive can look different for different people.  For athletes that  may entail waking up early and training when they do not feel like it,  or for older scholars it may include studying all night  long for a test even when they are tired.
However,  For our students, giving their best may be reciting letters over and over,  practicing multiplication or learning strategies to assist them in identify their emotions and feelings.  Some students may even need to learn how to simply sit in class in a more appropriate manner.  Whatever your child's needs, we will take on Mr. Smith's Positive approach in order to help your child work toward the desired outcome.
Helping your child work towards becoming their best is going to be a TEAM effort, but with the support of parents, teachers, friends and family we can set them on their journey with the tools that are needed in order to navigate this wonderful world with self-confidence and a positive mindset that will last them forever!
